Mailing lists can provide a lot of useful information. However, be aware that information is not uniformly authoritative and that the CERT®/CC does not necessarily endorse all these lists.

Bugtraq is a full-disclosure computer security mailing list. Subscribe through http://www.securityfocus.com/

NTbugtraq

NTbugtraq is a moderated forum created to invite the free and open discussion of Windows NT security exploits and bugs. To subscribe, send an email message to listserv@listserv.ntbugtraq.ntadvice.com with "subscribe ntbugtraq firstname lastname" in the body of the message.

RussNTSecurity

RussNTSecurity is an open mailing list, lightly moderated, and dedicated to NT security topics. To subscribe, send email to listserv@listserv.ntbugtraq.com with "subscribe ntsecurity" in the body of the message.

Virus-L

VIRUS-L is a moderated mailing list with a focus on computer virus issues. To be added to the mailing list, send mail to listserv@lehigh.edu .

  • alt.security: computer security issues as well as other security issues, such as car locks and alarm systems
  • comp.risks: moderated forum on the risks to the public in computers and related systems
