Keynote Abstract
On Terabit Flow Analysis
Future flows will be dominated by high throughput streams of visual data. Fiber capacity is more than adequate to carry such streams but it is the end architectures, now evolving towards highly parallel multicore chips, which will process this data. We identify some potential technology barriers. We then shift towards schemes for separating streams and performing deeper analysis on selected streams with multiple systems operating at their performance limits. Finally, we advocate sharing workload and benchmark data with the computer architecture and network processor communities, so that these applications are represented in performance models.
