A Legacy of Excellence
The CERT Coordination Center was established in 1988 in response to the Morris Worm incident. Located at the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute, the CERT Coordination Center was a pioneer in internet security.
Over the years, CERT staff has grown to over 150 staff members who work not just to respond to security incidents but to detect and prevent them as well. Now known as the CERT Division, our thriving organization is recognized as a trusted authority dedicated to improving the security and resilience of computer systems and networks, and is a national asset in the field of cybersecurity. We regularly partner with government, industry, law enforcement, and academia to develop advanced methods and technologies to counter large-scale, sophisticated cyber threats.
